في كتاب "رامي السهام"، نتعّرف إلى تتسويا، وهو رجل اشتهر ذات يوم بموهبته الرائعة من خالل إستخدام القوس والسهم، ولكنه تقاعد بعد ذلك من الحياة العامة، ونتعّرف كذلك إلى الصبي الذي يقوم برحلة بحث عنه، الصبي لديه العديد من الاسئلة، ومن خلال الاجابة عنها، ُيظهر له تتسويا طريق القوس، والمبادئ التي ينبغي إتباعها. تفترض رواية باولو كويلو أن العيش من دون ترابط بين أفكار المرء وأعماله، وأن الحياة التي يحاصرها الخوف من الرفض أو الفشل تفقد الكثير من قيمتها. بدل ًمن ذلك، على المرء أن يجازف، ويبني الشجاعة، ويتقبل الرحلة غير المتوقعة التي يرسمها له القدر. على مستوى العالم، يقّدم باولو كويلو إطارًا بفضل حكمته وكرمه وبساطته وجماليته التي جعلته من أكثر الكتاب مبيعًا لحياة مجزية: العمل بكد، الشغف، الغاية، التفّكر، تقبل الفشل، والدافع لاحداث فرق.

الرواية عن كاتب ذائع الصيت يدعى كوغيتو، في عقده السابع. يجد نفسه مجبراً على كتابة عمل روائي عن ملابسات موت أبيه. يعود كوغيتو إلى قريته لتسلُّم صندوق جلدي أحمر يحوي وثائق وتفاصيل متعلّقة بأبيه، وموته غرقًا خلال الحرب العالمية الثانية، الأمر الذي أتاح لذكرياته أن تتدفّق حول كل تلك المرحلة، من أوضاع سياسية واجتماعية وعلاقات أسرية، وعن انتماءات الأب وصداقاته، واجتماعاته السرية، التي تثير التساؤلات. يكشف الصندوق خفايا تلك المرحلة، بمحتوياته من كتب وأوراق، تُوثّقان لرحلة الأب الأخيرة في المياه. يواجه كوغيتو لحظات من الشحّ في الإلهام ومن التململ، ولحظات أخرى من استعادة السيطرة على نفسه من جديد، وتمكّنه من الغوص المؤلم في الماضي. ويجد نفسه وقد انزلق تدريجيّاً في تناقضاته، كناشط للسلام، وندمه وشعوره بالذنب لعدم محاولته إنقاذ أبيه، يوم رآه يغرق، وضياعه بين تخيّل مرضي وواقع وقع. يتطرّق النص إلى جماليات شعر تي إس إليوت، وتأثير الترجمات عليه، ويتعرّض لسيمفونيات بيتهوفن، وفكر إدوارد سعيد، والمسرح والتاريخ. رواية مؤثرة يعبّر فيها أوي ببراعة عن قوة الندم والخسارة في الحياة وتأثيرهما في المستقبل من خلال شخصيات روايته، كاشفاً جوانب واسعة من الحياة الاجتماعية والسياسية السائدتين في اليابان، ونمط الفن السائد، ولاسيما المسرحي.

تخيّل أرضاً لم تعد تشرق شمسها في الصباح، بل تُسَرِّب ومضاتٍ شحيحة من نورها. ما رد فعل سكّانها شعباً وحكومات؟ ما حدث هناك أنّهم لم يتمرّدوا ولم يثوروا ولم يتساءلوا عن سرّ ذلك التعتيم، ولم يطالبوا باسترجاع ما فقدوه. كل ما في الأمر أنهم اقتتلوا على نثارات الضوء!! قصص تغطّي عالماً غريباً يشبه تلك الأرض، وقد أعيد تشكيله، عالماً موازياً للحيّز المعتم من الإنسانية، الذي تخيّم فيه الخيبة ويعتمل الحزن في القلوب، والذي لا يمكن التعبير عنه إلاّ بالفن واللغة والخيال. تجمع بين الجد والهزل على نحو مزاجي، باعتبارها عملاً تجريبيّاً بامتياز، أساسه الخيال الجامح واللعبة اللغوية المتمكّنة المترجّحة بين الفصحى والعامّية المصرية التي تقارب العامّة بإغراء ملحوظ، وتنأى عنهم برمزية مشفّرة. تتحدّث عن حروب ومطاردات وجيوش غازية في زمن بديل، لتصوّر القضايا المعاصرة المعيشة ومعاناة البشرية، بأدوات غير واقعية، وأنماط عيش غرائبية، ما يجعلها تتميّز من كل ما هو مطروح في الأدب الرائج. تحاصر القارىء داخل عالمها ذي الطابع الأبوكاليبتي، تنسج الشباك حوله، لينفصل عن الواقع، ويتناغم معها فحسب. "الرؤيوان مصطلح يحمل معاني كثيرة، قد يكون حالة استثنائية تطرأ على المجتمع مثل الحرب، أو حالة الطوارئ، أو إنذار بحلول النهاية، أو نبوءة بحلول بداية جديدة مغايرة، وقد يُعرف في بعض الأساطير على أنه غول برأس فرس أو سبع".

من شريط الذاكرة، تنبثق هذه المذكّرات لتُحيي زمنًا يُرجعنا إليه د. شريح بِوَجْدٍ امتلأت به صوره ومشاهده، لكأنها الآن متجسّدة، وفيها نرى «صحبًا اعتنوا بي وأساتذة أرشدوني، وأتذكّر كتبًا درستُ فيها تمنّيت لو أنني احتفظت بها، وتبدو أمام ناظري عقيدة جذبتني في صباي إليها، فبقيت لي نبراس ضياء ومنارة هناء وسط كون تغمره ظلمة وجوديّة، فتنيرُ دربي وتبعثُ فيّ حركة تردّني إلى وعيي لفضل أهلي عليّ». وإنْ خَطَّ د. شريح ذاكرته حبرًا، فلأنّ الكتابة أنقذته «من ضجر كان يجتاحني تمامًا كما خلّصتني القراءة من ملل كاد يحبطني، وعليه فأنا مدين لهما معًا، إذ هما متعة واحدة... وقد يكون لغيري متع أُخرى، إلّا أنّني وعند منعطف السبعين راضٍ بما لديّ
